What server problems were those?
One of the hosting companies that linode uses was having connectivity problems throughout yesterday, and boxwhores.com just happens to be hosted by that company. The reason as to why it was happening, as far as I know, is still unknown. Only some geographical areas were affected by it, primarily in North America.
Agreed. We had our own server before. I don’t see the problem with someone idling in there to point them over. I think we’re pretty good here, we have more privs (vhosts, for everyone, i obviously have others) i think we’re doing pretty good here. I haven’t had any complaints other than the server problems we experienced today. Other than that the service has been stable and working fine. I’d like to remind others of what i remind myself every day. Boxwhores doesn’t belong to any single person. We’re a pretty small community of people with pretty much nothing in common. It’s fun, and just one person can damage it. Anyway, i’d like to apologize for the sever problems, if this happens much more i’ll go look for a more stable place, even if it’s more expensive.

BTW, if he can come onto the server to broadcast that he’s opening the channel up again, why not just come on to chat and hang out? It’s kind of ridiculous... makes it seem like a power-trip.

no doubt that we have all been better here, not only it being on a different server. we should all be able to hang out together, like we have been, without there being an enormous amount of senseless “disputes” going on. anyways, from what i’ve seen, there’s a lot of people that don’t even like deviantart, so why be part of their server when we can have our own? point being, i like it better here because we’re all seemmingly happy and not mad at a person(s) in the channel just because of something they have done. i think we’ve came a long way from where we were a couple of months ago, and i’d like it to stay that way. when a group of people from literally all over the world can come and hang out together, that’s something good, and we definately have that. not trying to be a martin luther king or anything, but somehow im thinking that if the world could see how us group of young adults can joke around together, that there wouldn’t be such a problem with segregation (sp), etc. just a thought.
Sounds like a great idea to me! I don’t know if you’re talking about just online contact stuff or actual mailing contact, though. And with that in mind, if you’re just referring to online contact information, which I think we all almost know each others info in that department, I think we could all get our mailing addresses together. Because like, at the holidays (like now) or even if you just want to, it makes it a whole lot easier to send someone a card or a package without having to always ask for mailing information. But yeah, that’s my take on that and I think it would be an awesome idea if we could have that for everyone.
For clarification, I mean mailing contact information as well as online. I was planning on making it availiable only to logged in users as it should be simple to integrate with WordPress’ code.
I’m not so sure I’ll have time before I leave for Mexico though, so I don’t know. More school work I’ve got to do than I thought.
Well, just as long as we can have it that would be great. Maybe if someone else could help?

I agree. I’m normally one of many words in cases like this, but my point is, I do agree, with both him opening the channel and with us not “moving.” This is not a house, it is a community.
